Small Groups

As part of the comprehensive and developmental guidance program, New Prospect students have the opportunity to participate in small group counseling sessions. Children sharing a common concern meet together with the counselor to talk and express their feelings, as well as to work on the area of concern.
The small group provides each student with the support of their peers and the counselor as that student works to develop his/her potential in school. These groups offer students opportunities to increase self-awareness; to improve academic success; and to improve problem-solving skills. The weekly meeting format includes discussion and planned activities to address the topic of concern. Small groups usually meet for 30 minutes during lunch for a limited number of weeks.
Students are referred for groups by parents and teachers.
Participation in small group sessions requires parent consent. If your student has been recommended for a small group, you will receive a permission slip indicating the group topic and other specifics.
We have 3 small groups running in both the fall and spring
